The Kosen Judo Championship is the only tournament where groundwork fighting (newaza randori) is allowed to continue without flowing continuation of technique. This, obviously, makes it the best tournament of the year, but it normally attracts a relatively small number of players. Kristof Frankowski (6th Dan IJF) and Daniel Indyke (2nd Dan IJF) proudly represented SUJC in Tokyo for the Veterans International Judo Championships, formerly known as the Masters. Sydney University Judo Club, the oldest in Australia, celebrated its 60th anniversary at a dinner on the 30th August, in the Refectory at Sydney University. The function was attended by about one hundred current and previous players, and many supporters. It was a great night with many old friendships being reestablished.
